Characteristics:	Freestanding small-format bronze sculpture mounted on a separate base of polished black marble. The composition combines a highly simplified human figure with a lower, prism-like volume whose surfaces are marked by signs, graphic traces and incisions. The patina moves through dark greens, browns and almost black areas, while warmer tones of the bronze emerge along edges and raised surfaces. One of the work’s defining features is the close integration of figure, support and written sign.

Description:	Antonio Oteiza approaches the figure of the writer not through portraiture or through the detailed description of an action, but through a broader idea: writing as a form of thought and as a trace that remains. The figure is concentrated on the upper part of a compact volume, leaning over a surface that suggests a place of work. The anatomy is reduced to its essentials, and the modelling retains a direct, irregular and expressive quality. Yet the meaning of the sculpture does not lie in the figure alone. The sides of the lower volume are covered with signs and incisions that bring graphic language directly into the body of the sculpture. This integration is fundamental. The writer is not merely shown beside writing; he seems to emerge from matter already marked by signs. The support therefore ceases to function as a simple pedestal and becomes an active part of the work’s meaning. A dialogue is established between organic and geometric form, between body and inscribed surface, between inner concentration and outward trace. Through this relationship, Oteiza turns an everyday activity into a sculptural reflection on thought, creation and the capacity of words to endure beyond the moment.
