Foundation Stone of the Museum Ciriza Oteiza Laid

Located in a privileged setting in Estella, a key point on the Way of St James, the Museum will not only provide a home for the works of the aforementioned masters, but will also become a meeting place for art, spirituality and nature. The architectural design, which combines modern elements with traditional touches, seeks to reflect the fusion between the contemporary nature of these artists' work and the timeless values of the Capuchin Friars.

The Capuchin Friars community, known for its commitment to culture, service and education, has reaffirmed through this project its desire to enrich the world's artistic and cultural heritage. The collaboration between the religious community and the art world demonstrates the unifying power of culture and its ability to build bridges between different spheres of society.

Those attending the ceremony, including representatives from the worlds of art, culture and politics, witnessed this historic moment. With the laying of this stone, the countdown begins to the opening of a space that will undoubtedly enrich the cultural landscape of our artistic region.

The Museum Oteiza Ciriza of the Capuchin Friars promises not only to be a home for the works of its two leading artists, but also a space for reflection, learning and appreciation of art in all its forms.

The event featured several moving moments:

• Brother Carlos Coca, Provincial Minister of the Capuchins of Spain, welcomed those attending and blessed the laying of the Foundation Stone, while a selection of the day's newspapers, plans of the Museum and the Museum's first book were placed inside a commemorative box.

• The architectural studio explained the most important features of the project.

• Mercedes Bretos Noain read a message of thanks from Antonio Oteiza and Carlos Ciriza.

• José Ángel Echeverría introduced José Javier Azanza López, author of the book “Antonio Oteiza and Carlos Ciriza, an Encounter between Two Travellers on the Way”, who gave a detailed presentation on the artists, their conception of art and the architectural project.
